The Lord of the Rings

In J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, a Wraith, also known as a Ringwraith or Nazgûl, is a powerful and terrifying undead servant of the Dark Lord Sauron. They were once mortal men, Kings and Sorcerers of Men, who were corrupted by the Rings of Power gifted to them by Sauron.

Each Ringwraith is bound to the One Ring and exists in both the visible and invisible world, granting them heightened senses in the unseen realm and vulnerability to enchanted weapons and creatures. Their physical forms are shrouded in black robes, concealing their decayed and ghostly appearances. The most prominent of the Nazgûl is the Witch-king of Angmar, their leader and Sauron's second-in-command.

The Ringwraiths are primarily tasked with hunting for the One Ring, instilling fear and terror in their pursuit. They are formidable warriors and wield dark magic, riding upon winged beasts as they search for their master's desire. Their presence is marked by an aura of dread and despair, and their piercing cries can shatter the will of even the bravest individuals.
